First Devlog!

As of late I've been investing my time in youtube videos but I'll try to use some spare time to work on this game.

So here's a bunch of things that have been worked on and my estimates of their completion:

  • UI - The UI is mostly finished and I don't think many significant changes are going to be made, though there are a bunch of small things that need fixing.
  • Player Movement - The player movement system is feeling pretty good at the moment but I'm certain I'll have to make some tiny tweaks to everything when I continue with level design. Other than that, nothing major will change.
  • Levels - The levels are very much in a testing state still as there is only 1 level which I've been using to test all the mechanics.
  • Obstacles/Interactables - Some basic obstacles and interactables sprites were made during the streams of this game, however they have not yet been brought to godot but I did make a template for anything that the player can touch to trigger, which should make creating levers, doors, buttons, steam, fire and more, much quicker.
  • Gameplay Loop - The gameplay loop is actually quite complete since there's not much to that in these types of speedrun games, you slide, jump, stick to ceilings, finish the level, try to get a better time and repeat. I'll probably add rewards for completing levels in a certain time to make the player want to complete the levels even faster.
  • Story - Although this game isn't really story driven or originally intended to be based around a story, I will still write a complete story for the lil' marshmallow, but that has yet to be done.
  • Player Animations - The video in this post shows the early stage that animations are currently in, by that I mean, the code for it is very messy and will be redone and I believe the system is also going to cause many errors in the long run. Other than that, the animation sprites are, I'd say mostly complete.

I've probably forgotten a lot of things so feel free to ask me if any questions pop up in that head of yours.

Thank you!
